Thursday after the Tigers/Cubs game, we had dinner at the Chicago Diner. It’s a good thing we had to do so much walking, because we also did a ton of EATING!
Everything on the menu is vegan by default, but you could ask for dairy cheese on the sandwiches and eggs are available by request. I had the BBQ “Bacun” & Cheeze burger with a side of coleslaw. I love BBQ sauce. The dressing on the coleslaw was very light, so you could actually taste the cabbage instead of a bunch of mayo-y dressing.
Also on our table: An award-winning Ruben, mac n’ cheese, dumplings and chicken fried steak (seitan, I think) with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies with pesto. What I really wanted more than anything, though, was the Lucky Mint shake. Thanks to McDonald’s advertising the Shamrock Shake for St. Patrick’s Day, I’d been craving a minty shake since April! I split a large one with my sister.
We all left full and happy.
