being lazy, pt 1: Lai Thai Kitchen

Ever since I got back, I just want someone else to do all the cooking for me. I’m getting back into it now, but only after a week of dining out. It started with Lai Thai Kitchen.

Fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. Tons of cilantro (just noticed it says mint on the online menu, but thankfully it was cilantro).

My first time having hot & sour soup since becoming vegan.

It was fairly substantial, and very tasty. When they say “full bodied broth,” they’re not kidding!

And….Pad Ga Pow. They will replace meat in any entree with tofu or seitan. I went with the seitan.

I really loved the huge basil leaves, and the way the seitan soaked up the garlic sauce. I wished there was more seitan – not because there wasn’t a lot in the dish, but because I just wanted to eat more! As it was, though, there was plenty for two meals and I got to eat the leftovers for breakfast.

  1. I can’t believe I never found your blog ’till now. A little dense, I guess! I’m vegan and live in GR. Because of your blog, I went to both Dollar Tree and Lai Thai Kitchen today, next to each other in the strip mall on East Leonard between Plymouth & Ball. I got the vegan “Just Mayo” and the vegan bacon bits, and the “buttery” frozen fingerling potatoes and the frozen steak fries. (And a cute Halloween card for my mom). At Lai Thai I got the Pad Curry Cauliflower and the Pad Ga Tiem, both vegan. That’s for dinner, after I make some brown rice to go with it. I really enjoy your blog!

    • Oh, this makes me so happy!! I always wonder if the information I post is helpful at all, so this is really good to know. I don’t know if you saw the latest post, but I’m giving away tickets for an Italian dinner that will have some vegan options. It’s kind of oriented for people with kids, but maybe you like magicians, too (or maybe you have kids, I dunno) 🙂 Anyway, sounds like you’re going to be well-fed, and I always love hearing about that!! Thanks for commenting.
