the one about the pizza party & cute animals

So, I was asked to make the food for a small birthday gathering for a certain young lady from my church who turned 12 last night. She is an animal lover, and I think it was about a year ago she decided to go vegetarian.

I decided to do an eggplant & garlic pizza,

and a Mexican pizza, along with buffalo tofu and my super green salad. I put the pizzas together at home, but popped them in the oven at the Birthday Girl’s house so they’d be fresh and hot for dinner.

I’ve been too lazy to make pizza for myself, but this was really fun. And now I feel like having another Pizza Week for no reason except to eat as much pizza as possible!

Same for the buffalo tofu, I usually only make it once or twice a year, but it’s one of my favorites.

And then…I got to meet the pets. There are quite a few, and I didn’t get pictures of them all, but here are a few:

Hopscotch. Poor guy keeps scratching his eye, so he has to wear the cone.

Banjo is a Chinese crested hairless pooch. Sometimes I wish Jack were hairless, all this guy needs is a little lotion applied every so often.

He reminds me of Teen Wolf. He moved too quickly for me to get a good picture of him smiling, but it’s so adorable.
This was a lovely way to spend a Thursday evening. I had tons of fun and I am so happy to have been invited, and honored I was asked to cook. There’s nothing quite like good friends.

  1. Tonight a friend and I divided up the Kim Chi we made last weekend. It’s super delicious! We each have three quarts. Let me know if you’d like one.

    • That sounds good! I picked some sumac today – maybe I can make something with it and we can trade. Hopefully it’s not poison sumac :p I don’t *think* it is…
