Heading out to Texas

Well kids, I’ll be leaving tonight to visit some dear friends in Texas. I also plan to visit the Whole Foods flagship store in Austin, and maybe a Trader Joe’s (I’ve never been to Trader Joe’s!), and hopefully hit up the Vegan Yacht food truck for a frito burrito.

I’ve already been eating like crap this week as if I’m already on vacation, so today I promised myself…

I would eat a nice, clean salad (no, it’s not really a Vlasic salad, just reusing that cute jar).

This’ll probably be my last meal before takeoff, then I’d like to track down some good vegan food in the airport during my layovers.

I’m bringing my laptop with me so hopefully I can keep up with the blog while I’m away, not that I’ve been particularly good about it recently while I’ve been home…sorry!!

Do you know of any vegan spots I should check out in Austin? I’m bringing an empty suitcase so I can fill it with food!

P.S. I originally wrote this late last night using the WordPress app on my iPhone and I distinctly remember setting the time and hitting Schedule, but this morning…it was gone! Of course that one was funnier and better in every way, and I forget everything I wrote. Does anyone know if there’s a problem with the Schedule feature in the app? It’s never happened when I saved a draft.

  1. Definitely don’t miss the Trader Joe’s. I went to one for the first time on the other side of the State a couple months ago and it was surprisingly as cool as everyone says.

  2. Check out Bearded Brothers. One of the founding brothers, Caleb (the one with the hat in the logo) was my hubby’s college roommate and the photographer at my wedding. I think you can buy them at Whole Foods and several other locations in Austin. “Our bars are, raw, vegan, gluten and soy free, made with organic ingredients, and crafted in hot and sunny Austin, Texas.” http://www.beardedbros.com/

I’m not a huge fan of Trader Joes, but maybe that’s just me. I just get better deals on stuff through my bulk co-ops and with my ravenous children, that’s important.

If you detour a few hours north to Far North Fort Worth, you’re welcome to lunch or dinner at my house. 😉

  3. Did you hear my jaw drop? No Trader Joe’s ever? Oh you should definitely save room in that suitcase. 🙂 If you like Peanut Butter, go for the PB pretzels – you won’t be sorry (that is unless you only buy 1 bag). Have a great trip!
