Apostles Fast

The Apostles’ Fast begins one week after the Feast of Holy Pentecost and ends on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul (June 29). Because the length of the fast varies depending on when we celebrate Pascha, it is possible (at least on the New Calendar) to have a month-long fasting period, or no fasting period at all!

This year, 2017, the Apostles’ Fast is from Monday, June 12, through Wednesday, June 28, with the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul celebrated on Thursday, June 29.

The general fasting guidelines are as follows:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: We abstain from all meat, eggs, dairy, fish, oil & wine.
Tuesday, Thursday: Oil and wine permitted.
Saturday, Sunday: Fish, oil and wine permitted.

These guidelines are taken from AbbaMoses.com Your personal fasting rule may vary, speak to your Spiritual Father if you have any questions!

Check out the recipe index (linked at the top of the website) for recipes without meat, eggs, dairy or fish. The Oil Free Recipes come in especially handy during the fasts!
